Regarded as non-strategic product lines, Nanometrics has sold off its DiVA and Yosemite product lines to two companies. The products were inherited from two acquisitions made by the company in 2006.
"We are pleased with our progress in divesting products and technologies that are not key to our growth strategy," commented Bruce C. Rhine, chief executive officer of Nanometrics. "The DiVA is a well-established product that has no synergy with our metrology business, and the Yosemite includes some excellent technology but serves a market outside of our product focus. Nanometrics' growth strategy is focused on the overlay, optical CD, thin-film and integrated metrology markets. The successful divestiture of these assets is a key part of our team's progress towards improved profitability, cash flow and predictability for Nanometrics."
The DiVA series of instruments had been less than a $1 million business within Accent Optical Technologies, which Nanometrics acquired in July 2006. Nanometrics has since sold the DiVA product line to Auriga Measurement Systems for an undisclosed amount.
The Yosemite CD-SEM metrology system was developed by Soluris, which Nanometrics acquired in March 2006. This line has been sold to SNU Precision Co., Ltd., a Korean semiconductor equipment company, again for an undisclosed amount.
