ImageUnder the banner of its Active Accuracy Assurance initiative, TSMC plans to provide greater levels of accuracy of its manufacturing data to the EDA and DFM community in a bid to improve successful tapeouts at the 45nm node and below.

"TSMC's Active Accuracy Assurance initiative provides higher standards of accuracy that are critical to achieve silicon success at 45nm and other advanced process technologies," said Kuo Wu, deputy director of design service marketing at TSMC. "The initiative provides assurance to designers that they can maximize the performance of their designs without having to compensate or 'guard band' for unforeseen variations in the manufacturing process."

TSMC said that it will apply these same standards to tools, building blocks and technologies, including its new Reference Flow 8.0, just released as well as DFM tools,
PDK's, design support, and backend services.
