Recent news released by SEMATECH regarding its expansion of the research and development program at the CNSE in the University of Albany has had knock-on effects for employment prospects in the future.
The seven-year agreement will see the creation of 450 jobs within the organization over the next three years, and the provision of $25 million for the furthering of research and development activities at five universities and colleges around the state of New York.
State legislative leaders have pledged the passing of a bill that will provide a sum of $300 million over a five-year timeframe to SEMATECH's endeavor, a sum that has been earmarked for the purchase of equipment process tools. SEMATECH has announced that it too will provide $300 million in cash and in-kind contributions to the project.
It is hoped that the entire process will aid in the development of new research at the CNSE and establish New York as a leading location in the industry.
