Micron spent two-thirds of $4 billion capex in two quarters |

 According to Wilbur Stover, Micron Technology's, Chief Financial Officer, the planned capital expenditure budget of $4.0 billion for its 2007 financial year has already seen two-thirds allocated in only two quarters.
Micron executives also noted in a conference call with financial analysts that its 300mm fab (MTV) in Manassas, Virginia had reached full capacity. MTV is split between DRAM and NAND flash production. MTV is also in the early stages of migrating to Micron's 72nm MLC NAND process. The company also noted that development of its 50nm NAND process had been finished and could ramp later in the year. The new 300mm fab in Lehi, Utah was said to be finishing wafer qualification and would be aggressively ramping NAND production due to the capital allocated for production expansion. On the DRAM front, Micron said that its 78nm process had reached ‘mature yields' in record time and MTV had been fully converted to this node. Micron expects the Tech Semiconductor fab conversion currently switching to 300mm production should have been completed in the next 12 months. At that point Micron's mainstream DRAM device production would all be produced on 300mm wafers. Only some legacy and specialty DRAM will remain on 200mm wafers.
