Intel lists role models Print E-mail

Every year Intel Corp. announces its Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) awards, which highlight those who are considered to be doing a good job for the Intel cause. The list below shows this year's top dog suppliers, but it seems the list is about double that of the previous year!

That means that more suppliers have reached or passed the points system award requirements than did last year. I would assume that Intel is pushing suppliers harder than ever to perform, and that strategy seems to be working rather well!

What I also noticed and liked was Intel's Bob Bruck's quote that said: "The suppliers we're recognizing today are role models for our industry, achieve higher levels of performance than their peers..."

If that's not a kick up the backside to suppliers to do better, then I don't know what is!

I mentioned in this blog at this same time last year that the PQS awards are noted for having so many Japanese suppliers honoured. Once again, that is apparent but this year a few others deserve a mention.

AZ Electronic Materials, which supplies photoresists and other chemicals, fought off Japanese rivals that have become increasingly strong in this arena, so well done AZ.

It was also nice to see Munters Corporation in the list, which supplies VOC abatement equipment. Not the most glamorous end of the business, but an extremely important one from an environmental point of view. It's not the first time they have been honored, but I bet few other Swedish companies have been honored by Intel as it's not a major centre for semiconductor suppliers!

NuFlare Technology was on the list for the second year in row. NuFlare is a small company providing electron beam mask writers and working in the EUV field. It won't come as a surprise then that the company is Japanese!

Those in this year's list can all take a bow and call themselves role models.
