ImageSanDisk Corporation plans to partner with Hynix Semiconductor on the manufacturing of 4-bit/cell multi-level cell technology that was obtained with the acquisition of msystems Ltd. last year. Originally, msystems had entered into a production agreement with Hynix.

"Hynix has done an outstanding job in NAND flash manufacturing in the past few years, and I look forward to cooperating with Hynix through the joint venture planned between our two companies, " stated Eli Harari, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of SanDisk.

Production is expected to take place within a current 300mm fab owned and operated by Hynix, though no other details were given. Both companies will invest equal amounts in fab tools for the new partnership.
