The Semiconductor Industry Association has named the two recipients of its 2007 University Research Awards as Professor Paul S. Ho (pictured) and Professor Andrew R. Neureuther. The award is presented to academics whose contribution to the realm of semiconductor research is considered to be outstanding.
Professor Ho has been actively involved in semiconductor research for the past 13 years, and is the Cockrell Family Regents chair in Materials Science and Engineering and director of the Laboratory for Interconnect and Packaging at the University of Texas. His current research lies in the areas of materials with particular interest in the area of interconnect reliability while he has frequently partaken in SRC-sponsored research.
Professor Neureuther is the Conexant Systems Distinguished Professor at the University of California at Berkeley. His area of research is in the modelling and simulation of IC processes, and he has worked closely with the SRC for more than 20 years.
George Scalise, SIA President, commented on the outstanding contributions made by the two recipients: "The vast bulk of the basic research that drives our industry is done by university researchers. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Professor Ho, Professor Neureuther, and their associates whose lifetime contributions have benefited our entire nation."
The SIA has been representing semiconductor companies since its inception in 1977.
