A level of innovation and expertise is required of those who are promoted to the post of IMEC Fellow, and the past careers of Guido Groeseneken (pictured) and Paul Heremans illustrate the skill, research ability and innovative nature of the two new Fellows.
Guido Groeseneken has been manager of IMEC's reliability group since 1992. In 2005 he was named as program director of the post-CMOS nanotechnology program and received a fellowship from the IEEE in 2006. His professorship with the K.U. Leuven sees him involved in Ph.D. coaching and research. The IMEC fellowship has been granted to Groeseneken in recognition of his contribution to IMEC's projects and technology development.
Paul Heremans began his scientific career working on MOS transistor reliability, then shifting to working primarily on LEDs and optical interconnects. His work with IMEC on organic diodes was classed among the top 50 scientific achievements of 2006 by Scientific American. He is also a professor at the K.U. Leuven and is an advisor for many Ph.D. students at the University. His pioneering research and his laying of the foundation of IMEC's organic electronics development were deciding factors in his promotion to Fellow.
IMEC is a nanoelectronics and nanotechnology research center based in Belgium.
