Philippe Geyres has announced his intention to resign from his position of executive Vice President and General Manager of the company's HPC (home, personal and communications) sector to pursue other career opportunities. His resignation after more than 20 years with the company coincides with the company's announcement of its intention to reorganize its product segments and create a stand-alone Flash Memory unit. It was also announced that a private equity institution is seeking to acquire STMicroelectronics and Intel's NOR Flash businesses, according to financial analysts.
The Flash Memory Group, which comes into effect in January 2007, will be led by Mario Licciardello, Corporate Vice President and General Manager. The company also intend to set up an Application Specific Group that will incorporate the new Mobile, Multimedia & Communications Group (MMC) and the Home Entertainment & Displays Group (HED), as well as the existing Automotive Product Group (APG) and Computer Peripherals Group (CPG). The MMC will be led by new executive VP Tommi Uhari, while the HED Group will be managed by Christos Lagomichos.
STMicroelectronics is a semiconductor solutions provider.
