Underground hog day! Print E-mail
Dec 07, 2006 at 10:12 AM
Having been born and bred in London I have the map of all underground train lines and stations imprinted in my brain from birth. However, after attending a nice working lunch with a group from Cadence in the west-end of the city I attempted to head diagonally north to get to my office.

That little trip should have taken about 20 minutes but ended up being close to 2 hours!

I had to go south before heading north as some of the lines were having problems - a pain - but something that happens here.

However, that was only part of the problem for the day, because when I got to the office it was virtually empty! Normally I would see about 40 plus people but on this occasion it was less than 4!

Apparently we had a power cut in the area (not the first) and everything had been down all afternoon and so people had been allowed home, or - in the case of the team I work with - had gone to the pub!

Though power had been restored when I eventually arrived, the systems had yet to be restored as well as the phone lines. As is the case, things happen in threes and on my way home I was hit with delays on the overland rails and got home too late and tired to post news I was expecting to have done from the office.

So if anyone is a little baffled as to the lack of response to emails or news stories being posted online, now you know and hopefully we will have a trouble-free day to get back on track.

Oh, and those from our team that went to the pub(s), just don't ask, please!
