International Isotopes to offer supply of germanium tetrafluoride Print E-mail

ImageInternational Isotopes Inc is planning to commence production of germanium tetrafluoride (GeF4), using its acquired patents for the Fluorine Extraction Process. The FEP process utilizes depleted uranium tetrafluoride (UF4) as its primary raw material and selectively combines this material with other chemicals to produce the high purity fluoride compounds while using a classified waste product.

"The start of our FEP production operation represents a very significant accomplishment for our Company," stated Steve T. Laflin, President and CEO of the Company. "Since we acquired the FEP patents in 2004, we have been working very diligently on start-up and making considerable investments into production, plant equipment, and staff. The FEP production facility is an eight thousand square foot facility co-located to our main operations. This highly complex process has very technical parameters required for system operations largely due to the chemical characteristics of the products themselves. This successful production run has confirmed the process is ready to commence regular production in a safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly operation."

Initially the company will produce semiconductor grade germanium tetrafluoride (GeF4), but FEP has also been successfully demonstrated to produce other high purity fluoride gasses such as boron trifluoride (BF3), and silicon tetrafluoride (SiF4), according to the company.
