Rohm and Haas consolidates groups; goes local Print E-mail
Oct 10, 2006 at 04:53 PM
ImageRohm and Haas Company has put in motion a major reorganization of its business groups in an effort to become more responsive to customer requirements and emerging markets such as Asia and Central and Eastern Europe while increasing profitability.

The former six divisions have been condensed into three, though the electronics division remains intact. The business groups, effective from January 2007, are Electronic Materials, Specialty Materials and Performance Materials.

The Electronic Materials Group, which had sales of $1.3 billion in 2005, has the task of doubling sales by 2010 by strengthening their position within the semiconductor industry. Pierre R. Brondeau will head the group and will be responsible for accelerating investments in technology, capital and talent, according to the company.

Key moves will be forming closer ties with customers at the local level and within growth regions; these regions have predominantly been Asia Pacific in recent years. The company supplies chemicals from CMP slurries to photoresists through previous acquisitions. The company has an Advanced Technology Center (ATC), located in Marlborough, Massachusetts as well as a CMP-dedicated ATC in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
