SST magazine saved from dilution! Print E-mail

There have been some news developments over the joining of SST with SMT and Advanced Packaging publications over at PennWell.

Well, it appears, thanks to an email I received from David Barach, the new GROUP Publisher of all three titles, that the press release issued last week surely did give the reader the impression that the three electronics based titles were ‘COMBINING' but that is actually—very much—not the case. ALL three will be remaining standalone titles.

David apologized for the press release not being worded clearly enough and for the fact that readers of it would come away with the ‘perception' that the titles were actually being ‘COMBINED.'

It would seem that the ‘COMBINING' is on the marketing side, not the editorial side.

That's good news, as I really couldn't see how diverse content in one publication was going to work. Business wise, SST and the others are therefore doing fine and are not in any financial trouble, according to David. That point really goes with the first point, over ‘COMBINING.'

Good news indeed, as a vibrant semiconductor industry needs a vibrant trade press. All is well.
