Ikanos Communications has started using Tower Semiconductor to fabricate its Vx160 high-performance DSL network processor using a 160nm CMOS process at Fab2, according to the pure-play foundry.
"In our continued drive to diversify our manufacturing capabilities, we selected Tower Semiconductor to manufacture our highest volume network processor," said Joshua Rom, vice president of operations at Ikanos Communications. "Tower's excellent engineering and manufacturing capabilities resulted in a fast product ramp for the Vx160, ensuring that we met our customers' requirements in a timely manner." Ikanos had revenues of $85 million in 2005, with the fabless company previously using TSMC and Austriamicrosystems to fabricate its devices, according to its annual report.
