DuPont Electronic Technologies has officially opened its new Semiconductor Materials Technical Center in Taiwan's Hsinchu Science Park its third facility in Taiwan. DuPont EKC Technology, a DuPont Electronic Technologies business has been highlighted by DuPont as being the main beneficiary of the new facility as it will expand development of post-etch cleaning and residue removal solutions for Taiwanese chip manufacturers as well as shorten process development times.
"Semiconductor technology is the primary enabler of the global electronics industry, and advanced semiconductor materials are a major focus for DuPont," said David B. Miller, vice president and general manager, DuPont Electronic Technologies. "With Taiwan's large and rapidly growing role in the development of advanced semiconductor technologies, it is strategically important for DuPont to have research for advanced semiconductor materials capabilities near our customers, so we can better serve the needs of the marketplace." The new center houses single wafer processing tools as well as advanced analytical and metrology tools, and is being staffed with top researchers in the field of semiconductor process technology, according to the company. Collaboration has been ongoing with Taiwanese research institutes, industry and government agencies.
