The award was granted based on a total score received on Fairchild Semiconductor's extensive supplier performance evaluation, which comprises scores in fields such as quality, delivery, service, cost-of-ownership, technology, and environmental. The award is named after C. Sheldon Roberts, one of the founders of the original Fairchild Semiconductor, and the company's first material specialist, known for working with suppliers to build quality into their process.
