Chartered ramping 90nm SOI for AMD Print E-mail
Apr 05, 2006 at 11:13 AM
ImageAMD held a press conference during the first day of Semicon Europa to discuss the production ramp of its 65nm SOI microprocessors and 90nm SOI ramp at foundry partner Chartered Semiconductor.

Orginally AMD planned to use Chartered in early 2007 that would have been for 65nm microprocessors but the demand for AMD's chips has meant production has been moved forward and Chartered is expected to start delivering wafers to AMD using a 90nm process in July 2006.

AMD will also start to ramp 65nm production in the 2H06 timeframe, which the company said was the objective all along.

AMD expects to be fully converted to 65nm processses at Fab36 by the 4Q07.Fab36 will now ramp past the original target of 13,000wspm to 20,000wspm by the end of the year.
