ImageEplida Memory has stated that it has now started ramping Area 2 of its E300, 300mm DRAM fab, which has an estimated 80,000 wafer starts per month capability and one of the largest 300mm fabs currently in production.

However, due to a 25 percent spot market price drop in for 512Mb DDR2 during the 4Q05, average-selling prices for DRAMs suffered a 7% decline, which was greater than the 5 percent decline the company had projected, hitting profits.

Full details of Elpida's 3Q05 financials are expected next week.
