Cabot & Honeywell share tantalum IP |

Cabot
Supermetals and Honeywell's Electronic Materials have signed a global
cross-licensing agreement with respect to each others patents related to
tantalum (Ta) technologies used in the production of high-purity Ta metals and
sputtering targets.
"In
addition to being good for Cabot and Honeywell, we believe this agreement will
benefit the semiconductor industry by making the best tantalum technologies
available more broadly," said Eduardo Cordeiro, vice president and general
manager of Cabot Supermetals.
The
agreement will allow Cabot, a supplier of high purity Ta plate and components,
and Honeywell, a manufacturer of Ta physical vapor deposition (PVD) sputtering
targets to develop improved Ta products for the 65nm node and below.
