Updated June 19th, June 25th 2007: Last Friday a couple of stories appeared at Forbes and Dow Jones that reported on a research note issued that day from Goldman Sachs analyst James Covello, holding the opinion that sometime in 2008, AMD will outsource manufacturing!

The fluffy hype-driven announcement from IBM over the use of metal gates a few months back was supposed to have been addressed at a forthcoming technology symposium, at which IBM would reveal more details.

The 2007 VLSI Research 10 BEST Customer Satisfaction awards have been released showing that Lam Research made it into eighth position in the large cap category after going missing in last year's rankings.

Rumors are circulating that Samsung had refused to play ball on further price declines of DRAM to major PC manufacturers such as HP and Dell. The result has been a suspension of supply at anything below current contract prices leaving the door open for Taiwanese memory manufacturers to offer lower prices and pick up the business.

Unaccustomed as I am to ranting in this blog, I noticed what seemed like a normal news/commentary type story over at DigiTimes turn into a blog-style rant directed at AMD over soft-launches that may never meet real expectations once delivered in testable products.
