Following the surprise move by Peter Singer to take the helm at Solid State Technology (SST) magazine, Semiconductor International has named former lead technical editor of SI Laura Peters (pictured) as Editor-in-Chief. Bringing more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry to the role, Ms. Peters has worked for years in the technical editorial industry. 

MagnaChip Semiconductor has announced the addition of Dr. Ilia Ovsiannikov to the team as Vice President of SoC Engineering, reporting to President and CFO Robert Krakauer (pictured). Dr. Ovsiannikov joins the company from Micron, and will apply his years of research expertise to his new role as head of MagnaChip’s engineering and head of the company’s new Image Signal Processing Advanced Research Center.

Fujitsu Limited has announced several executive appointments following a meeting of the Board of Directors. While the majority of the appointments will come into effect following a company EGM planned for late June, Kuniaki Nozoe’s promotion to the role of Corporate Senior Executive Vice President comes into effect on April 1st. 

Two promotions within Kyocera America’s sales divisions were announced recently, with Gary Lee, former National Product Manager of Organic Product Sales, and Kenji Aonuma, General Manager of the International Sales Division of the Semiconductor Components Group in Japan-based Kyocera Corp., both assuming the title of Vice President of their respective divisions. 

Michael Fischer, a former KLA-Tencor executive with over 23 years of experience in the semiconductor and process control industries, has been named as Head of Worldwide Sales for Nanometrics, with immediate effect. 

Mark Peterson (pictured), former SVP, General Counsel and Secretary at Targus Group International, Inc., has joined Conexant as Chief Legal Officer. Also assuming the roles of Secretary and Senior Vice President, Mr. Peterson will take responsibility for all of Conexant’s global legal affairs, and will report to CEO Dan Artusi. 

SEMI China has announced the bestowal of two awards on SMIC for contributions to the industry. Dr. Richard Chang, President and CEO of SMIC, was honoured with the Industry Outstanding Contribution Award, while the company was given the SEMI China Corporate Social Contribution Award. 

IP design company MIPS Technologies has brought on board a finance veteran to take up the responsibility of managing the company’s finances. Maury Austin (pictured), former employee of General Electric and Apple Computer, steps into the CFO role with immediate effect, and will report to CEO John Bourgoin. 

Dr. Bob Gunn has been named as Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology’s (OIPT) Applications Team Leader, with responsibility for business’s sales support and product development, such as the development of new plasma and ion beam technologies.
