Gustavo Arenas (pictured), former Senior Vice President for AMD, has been promoted to the position of Chief Sales Officer for the company with immediate effect. Reporting to the office of the CEO, Mr. Arenas takes up responsibility for coordination of the company’s regional sales organizations and collaboration between these and the company’s global customers. 

CATRENE (Cluster for Application and Technology Research in Europe on NanoElectrics) has named Werner Mohr (pictured) as Vice Chairman for the cluster programme with immediate effect. Mr. Mohr, a member of the SEMI Advisory Board and a seasoned semiconductor executive, retired from his active roles with Infineon in May 2008 and joins the CATRENE endeavour for technological leadership for the European ICT industry. 

Ed Korczynski (pictured), Senior Technical Editor at Solid State Technology magazine (SST), signed off from his blog, ‘Ed’s Threads,’ for the last time last Friday, noting that he has resigned his position and is going to pursue some new directions within the semiconductor manufacturing sector. 

Meir Mimon has been named as worldwide Vice President of sales and marketing for Jordan Valley Semiconductors Ltd. The appointment follows the recent news of the acquisition of Bede, the HRXRD metrology company. Mr. Mimon will oversee Jordan Valley’s growth strategy and customer support operations to increase the company’s market share. 

Lattice Semiconductor has named former Unisem Group CEO Bruno Guilmart as its new President and CEO, effective from July 7th. The appointment follows the resignation from the role of Steve Skaggs at the end of May and the subsequent appointment of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jan Johannessen as Interim CEO. 

Picarro, a manufacturer of high performance lasers and laser-based instruments, has boosted its sales and marketing teams with the addition of Iain Green (pictured) as Director of Marketing and Mark Davis as Vice President of Sales. Between them, they bring over 30 years of experience to the company. 

Bringing over 25 years of sales management experience to the company, Matthew Ready (pictured) has been appointed to the Senior Vice President role where he will oversee all company sales. He will report to company CEO Ronnie Vasishta, and will take up responsibility for the company’s sales strategy and for expanding the company’s sales channel partners. 

Rolf Deusinger, a member of the Advisory Board for ASML, has announced his resignation from the role with immediate effect. A member of the Board since July 2007, Mr. Deusinger has accepted a new position with another company, hence his departure from ASML. 

In the seventh executive appointment for International Rectifier since February (see below), the company has announced the appointment of Mike Brown as Chief Information Officer. Mr. Brown joins the company from Freedom Communications, Inc., where he also held the CIO role.
