Dr. Edward Ross (pictured), a seasoned industry veteran with a wealth of industry leadership experience, has been appointed to the Atmel Board as an Independent Director. Dr. Ross’s most recent role was as President Emeritus of TSMC North America, to which role he was appointed in 2005. 
Louise Trevillyan has been awarded the 9th Annual Marie R. Pistilli Award for Advancement of Women in EDA. Ms. Trevillyan is a Research Staff Member in the Design Automation Department of IBM’s T.J. Watson Research Center, and will be presented with the awarded during the Workshop for Women in Design Automation on June 9th at a ceremony in the Anaheim Convention Center in California. 
John Mayer has filled the newly-created role of Vice President of Operations for NEHP, Inc. In his 15 years of industry experience, he has worked in various senior management roles with companies including DSM Metal Fabrications, G.S. Blodgett and several other manufacturing companies. 
A member of the Artimi Board since 2004, Andrew Vought brings 30 years of semiconductor operations experience to his new role as CEO. Succeeding Colin Macnab who held the role from 2005, Vought departs his most recent post as CEO of BroadLight to steer the connectivity technology company. 
Conexant has announced the departure of President and CEO Daniel Artusi after a mere 
ASAT Holdings’ newly-created role of company President will be taken up by Jeffrey Osmun, former Corporate Vice President of sales and marketing for STATS ChipPAC. Effective from today, Osmun’s role of President will be accompanied by the additional role of Executive Vice President of sales and marketing. 
In a further shock to the system that is AMD, Phil Hester (pictured), AMD CTO since 2005 has departed the company to “pursue other opportunities.” The news was leaked by AMD to certain mainstream newspapers but the company did not make an official announcement. 
Cymer, Inc. has added Dr. Chris Progler (pictured) and Dr. Patrick Naulleau to its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). Dr. Progler is CTO and Executive Vice President for Photronics, while Dr. Naulleau joins the company as Lead Scientist for Lawrence Berkeley Lab’s Center for X-Ray Optics. 
NEC Electronics America’s automotive and general-purpose microcontroller (MCU) strategic business unit will be steered by Jim Trent, who departs his former role as Associate Vice President of the automotive unit to take up the post of Vice President of the unit, reporting to company President and CEO Yuichi Kawakami. 
In a quickly turned-around operation, Fujitsu Microelectronics has announced the resignation of President and Representative Director Toshihiko Ono for personal reasons and the subsequent appointment of Haruki Okada (pictured) to the newly vacated role, effective immediately.
