Infineon acquires wireless products unit from LSI Print E-mail

ImageInfineon Technologies has further strengthened its position within the communications arena and in wireless handset market in particular with the acquisition of LSI Corp's Mobility Products Group for $450 million in cash. The unit was formerly a part of Agere Systems, which LSI acquired in April for $4 billion.

ImageTower Semiconductor has teamed with EMA Inventory Lifecycle Solutions, a joint partnership of Exel MPL and AVBA Hi-Tech Services, to manage fab equipment spare-parts logistics that is expected to produce $15 million in savings over three years, according to the niche foundry.

SEMI book-to-bill ratio of 0.84 lowest in years Print E-mail

ImageThe North American-based semiconductor equipment suppliers saw their book-to-bill ratio plummet in July 2007 to 0.84, the lowest recorded ratio in over two years. Equipment suppliers posted $1.44 billion in orders in July.

ImageAs expected, worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings for the second quarter of 2007 were higher than the first quarter of 2007 by 3 percent, according to SEMI. Billings reached $11.06 billion - about 15 percent greater than the same quarter last year.
