All Chartered's fabs achieve ISO/TS 16949:2002 QMS Print E-mail

Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing has achieved the ISO/TS 16949:2002 quality management system standard certification for all of its 200mm and 300mm fabrication facilities -- Fab 2, Fab 3, Silicon Manufacturing Partners (SMP or Fab 5), Chartered Silicon Partners (CSP or Fab 6) and Fab 7.Write Comment (0 comments)

Intel’s Arizona plan also includes two more 300mm fabs Print E-mail

Intel's future plan for the Chandler site includes building another two 300mm fabs across the road on a new site. Details can be found in Intel's "Positioning Intel Arizona for Future Development" powerpoint presentation. In the preliminary development plan two new fabs are being considered along the west-side of the current campus that hold Fab 22, Fab 12 and the recently announced Fab 32. Nanya plans new 300mm fab in Taiwan Print E-mail

According to several business news channels, Nanya Technology has decided to go ahead with its expected first 300mm DRAM fab. Iwate Toshiba to restart mothballed 200mm fab Print E-mail

Toshiba Corporation and Iwate Toshiba Electronics Co., Ltd (Iwate Toshiba) announced that they would construct a new semiconductor production line based on 200mm wafers at Iwate Toshiba, a consolidated subsidiary of Toshiba based in Iwate prefecture, northern Japan. New nano-lab: NIMET nanoscale facility to be built in Florida Print E-mail

The Nanoscience Institute for Medical and Engineering Technologies (NIMET) Nanoscale Research Facility to be constructed at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. The $35 million facility will include cleanrooms (class 100 and 1000), laboratories, and offices to support multi-disciplined research efforts in the emerging nanosciences field. STMicroelectronics expands in Singapore Print E-mail

AMA was awarded a new project in August, AMK1, with STMicroelectronics Singapore. AMK1 is a project of approximately 10,000 square meters of office space in a building that is recently acquired, and will be conducted by the contract management approach. AMA had completed the AMKO project last year with much success based on this approach and thus it is believed that this form of contract in construction is the most cost effective and efficient. With AMK1, AMA will undertake the tasks of Project Management, Design and Contract Management, and this project is expected to be completed by year-end 04.

Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation ("Grace") has announced investment agreements with Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited and Hutchison Whampoa Limited in which the two will subscribe shares in Grace totaling US$90 million.
