During a conference call with analysts regarding 1H05
financial results, Soitec reiterated the 50 million Euro contract, still
running with AMD in Dresden. However, a new contract worth a minimum of $100
million US dollars that runs from July 05 through to June 06, is not related to
AMD, rather it is a new contract with an unidentified customer, according to a
follow-up conversation Semiconductor

increased to 3.7 million Euros compared to a loss of 7.1 million Euros in the

Wafer sales continued to increase over second quarter levels, according to the latest report from the SEMI Silicon Manufacturers Group (SMG). SUMCO, has ordered its second SIMOX-SOI designed implanter
from Ibis Technology Corporation. The Ibis i2000 oxygen implanter was
introduced in March 2002 with Ibis selling three tools previously. The cost of

The European Patent Office (EPO) has apparently upheld the grant to
MEMC of a European patent (EP-B-O 972 094, as amended) on defect-free
silicon for wafers of 200mm diameter or greater, which was opposed by
the Sumitomo Mitsubishi Silicon Group (SUMCO). MEMC is advised that a

French silicon-on-insulator wafer producer Soitec announced record
consolidated sales of €63.4 million for the second quarter of its
2005-2006 financial year. The sales were driven by increasing adoption
of SOI, especially 300mm, in servers, PCs and consumer electronics,
according to the company. Half-year consolidated sales rose 72.6% on a
